Uninstalling for some components can be easy as hell, but doing the same with sh404sef is no 5 seconds job. It needs a lot of checking and finding out and then only, it works right. Here is the correct way, how you can uninstall sh404sef completely before you try to reinstall : 1 - Uninstall any instance of sh404sef found in Joomla! extension manager
2 - Extension files:
Delete the /administrator/components/com_sh404sef/ directory
Delete the /administrator/modules/mod_sh404sef_cpicon
Delete the /components/com_sh404sef/ directory
Delete the /plugins/sh404sefcore directory
Delete the /plugins/sh404sefextplugins directory
Delete the /plugins/system/shmobile directory
In the /plugins/system/ directory, delete the sh404sef.php and sh404sef.xml files, if found
Note: some of these directories may not exist, depending on where the installation failed
3 - Configuration backup files:
Delete the /media/sh404sef directory
Note: some of these directories may not exist, depending on where the installation failed
4 - Database: sh404sef tables
Delete the xxx_redirection table
Delete the xxx_sh404sef_aliases table
Delete the xxx_sh404sef_meta table
Delete the xxx_sh404sef_pageids table
Note: some of these tables may not exist, depending on where the installation failed
5 - Database:
In the xxx_extensions table, delete any row with sh404sef in it
In the xxx_assets table, delete any row with sh404sef in it
In the xxx_menu table, delete any row with sh404sef in it
